Industrial Solar Growth Strategy for Hidd, Sitra and Ma'ameer

Client

A regional renewable energy company engaged us to assess the commercial potential for expanding its industrial solar business into Bahrain.

The company wanted to identify the strongest customer segments, build a qualified commercial pipeline, and determine which commercial models would be most appropriate for industrial customers.

Issues

The client had identified a large theoretical customer universe but lacked a reliable way to distinguish commercially viable projects from low-probability leads.

Industrial facilities varied significantly in electricity consumption, roof availability, operating schedules, ownership structure, investment criteria, and willingness to commit capital. This made broad-based sales prospecting inefficient and difficult to prioritize.

Solution

We developed an industrial solar growth strategy combining customer segmentation, demand assessment, competitor benchmarking, commercial model analysis, and account prioritization.

Approach

Potential customers across Hidd, Sitra, Ma'ameer, and surrounding industrial areas were segmented by facility type, operating profile, estimated electricity consumption, site characteristics, and investment readiness.

We compared owner-funded installations with alternative commercial structures and assessed competitors by technical positioning, pricing approach, customer focus, track record, and market presence.

Recommendations

We recommended an account-based growth model focused initially on medium and large industrial facilities with stable daytime electricity consumption and suitable installation conditions.

The commercial proposition was repositioned around lifecycle economics, energy-cost visibility, system reliability, and long-term performance rather than installation price alone.

Engagement ROI

The analysis reduced an initial universe of more than 120 potential accounts to 34 qualified prospects, including 11 high-priority opportunities.

These priority accounts represented approximately 5.2 MWp of modeled potential capacity, while the tighter qualification framework was estimated to reduce unproductive sales effort by around 25%.
